Death/Dismemberment Benefits

Upon the death of a staff member who has been employed by the university for at least six months and is not, at the date of death, eligible to participate in the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) or any other publicly supported retirement system that pays a death benefit, a death benefit of $500 is payable by the University to his/her heirs or beneficiaries. Death, disability, and survivor benefits are provided for employees who are participants in the SURS if the requirements of that particular system are met.  Accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance is available to both employees eligible for benefits and their eligible dependents. Refer to System Human Resource Services for further detailed information.
