Wellness Center

The Wellness Center at UIC is a health education unit that serves students and supports staff and faculty in their work with students.  The Center’s philosophy is to address wellness holistically.  Following the 8-Dimensions of Wellness the center’s activities, focus on: social, emotional, intellectual, sexual, occupational, environmental, spiritual, and physical well-being.

Faculty are encouraged to keep the following list of services and resources in mind as they move through the academic year:

  • Food Insecurity: The Wellness Center, managing the Pop-Up Pantry, distributes on average, 1,000 bags of groceries a year.  This resource is a free food pantry exclusively for UIC students supported by the generosity of the UIC community. The pantry occurs once-a-month; however, if you have a student with an immediate food need, please contact the Center to receive assistance on any day.
  • Wellness Individual Consultation: This is a one-time consultation that offers students an opportunity to vent, discuss, and identify concrete strategies to manage life stressors.
  • Health Education Workshops: Center workshops are free, 50-minutes long, and interactive.  Further information can be found on the Wellness Center website under Workshops.
  • College Success Guide: This a free comprehensive guide written by the Wellness Center exclusively for UIC students. Covering most of the wellness challenges encountered by first-year students it is a good resource for academic advisors to share with students.  It is also a good resource for students attending a First-year Experience or college transition seminar.  Contact the Wellness Center to receive a free copy.
