Human Resources Offices
The University of Illinois has several human resources offices which handle various functions depending on their particular area of authority. In addition to the University Office of Human Resources (UOHR), the offices on the UIC campus involved in HR administration are: Faculty Affairs, UIC Human Resources (UIC HR), and Student Employment.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs reports directly to the campus chief academic officer, the provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. Faculty Affairs supports the mission of UIC faculty members who perform the teaching, research and public service functions by providing quality, innovative, service-oriented, client-focused, and timely human resources programs, policies, and services. Faculty Affairs’ mission is to support and strengthen the UIC campus’s ability to attract, retain, develop, and motivate faculty in support of UIC’s mission and goals.

UIC Human Resources (UIC HR) is located within the Office of the Associate Chancellor for Budget and Financial Administration. UIC HR works in partnership with UIC colleges and departments coordinating human resources policies, procedures, and practices for all academic professional employees (percent time and hourly) all civil service employees, all graduate student assistants, and all extra help employees on the Chicago campus. UIC HR’s mission is to embody the best practices of the Human Resources profession in their delivery of customer-focused, fully integrated, efficient Human Resources services and programs to civil service and academic professional employees and the University.

Student Employment is an area within the Office of Career Services and is a centralized service that offers assistance to students who are looking to find a part-time job either on or off-campus. Student Employment assists both university Departments and off-campus employers who are seeking to hire students for part-time job openings. Various job fairs are offered throughout the year by Student Employment.

The University of Illinois Human Resources, also referred to as University Office of Human Resources (UOHR), is a unit of University Administration (UA) that is responsible for various human resources initiatives servicing the three campuses. UIHR serves as primary liaison to the Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) and the State Universities Civil Service System (SUCSS) on human resources and benefit-related issues, and to the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) on retirement-related issues.
